Whiter & Brighter Smiles in Van Nuys, CA
Have you looked in the mirror lately and noticed that your sparkling smile is looking dull and tired? You may be disappointed that your oral hygiene efforts don’t seem to be having more of an effect on your healthy smile.
This isn’t uncommon. No matter how well you take care of your teeth, over time you’re bound to notice that they’re looking yellow and discolored. At Saticoy Plaza Dentistry, we are pleased to offer effective teeth whitening options that will restore your youthful appearance and give you a reason to smile again.
Convenient Whitening Options
You can choose an in-office treatment, followed up by at-home whitening for fast results. Or, we can offer you a dentist-supervised professional take-home whitening system that you can use at your convenience.
Zoom! In-Office Whitening Treatment
We've tried a lot of products, but we choose Zoom! teeth whitening for in-office treatments because the procedure can dramatically brighten your smile in just one appointment. We start by protecting your teeth and gums with a small mouth guard. Next, your teeth are coated with a hydrogen peroxide-based gel. Dr. Bacquet directs a laser beam at the gel to activate the hydrogen peroxide and dissolve stains.
Our in-office whitening treatments can brighten your teeth up to ten shades lighter in 45 minutes to an hour. To maintain the results of your in-office treatment, Dr. Bacquet will give
you an at-home kit for touch-up treatments.
Opalescence Teeth Whitening at Home
Your at-home treatment with Opalescence may be a follow-up to professional treatment, or you can choose to perform the whole whitening process over a two-week period in the privacy of your home. In either case, we use impressions of your teeth to fashion a customized whitening tray.
Our customized trays are superior to store-bought trays because they are designed specifically for your teeth. Since the process is supervised by Dr. Bacquet, we can provide you with a prescription-strength gel that works faster and better than store-bought whiteners.
What to Expect after Teeth Whitening
Prepare to be thrilled with your new smile! You won’t believe how a simple procedure like professional teeth whitening can improve your smile and your confidence!
But it’s important to have realistic expectations, and there are a few things to keep in mind after treatment:
- When using the at-home teeth whitening treatment, you may feel some sensitivity, which is common. We recommend using a desensitizing toothpaste such as Sensodyne after treatment. The sensitivity will subside in about 1 to 2 days
- After treatment, you may feel that your teeth just aren’t as white as you expected them to be. In this case, we will be happy to arrange a touch-up treatment to achieve the desired results.
- The results of professional teeth whitening are not permanent and will begin to fade over time. You can keep your smile whiter longer by doing periodic touch-ups at home or by coming to our Van Nuys dental office for another professional treatment.
- You should be aware that a teeth whitening treatment has no effect on existing dental work. Therefore, it’s important to let us know if you’re thinking about whitening so we can plan ahead. If necessary, we can always change out existing dental work to match newly whitened teeth.

Teeth whitening is safe as long as directions are followed. We use low concentrations of peroxide to bleach teeth. Some products are acidic and may damage tooth enamel, so it is very important to use doctor recommended bleaching products.
